Ok_Nothing_9733 Cats are so funny, I really wonder what possesses them to trust random humans when they need help, or to realize "hey I know ya got warmth in there SO LET ME IN"

DKWPaint985 OP According to my neighbors she had been living in my bushes for a few weeks while I was away so maybe she had been staking out my place?? I have no idea

Psychobabble0_0 Clever squatter. You can't leave your house unattended these days, even for a holiday. It's legally hers now. She has rights.

Glittering Grass_214 I think cats are great observers. They observe body language very carefully, and approach people with the friendliest/least threatening body language. So they don't actually choose at random. They choose sincerely good humans. Being chosen by a cat is the best feeling ever. Congrats, OP. Your new family members are all adorable

NoPoet3982 Of course they trust their servants. They know we're grateful we let them live in their houses.

stustue not sure how true this is, but i watched a cat fact video on yt that said domesticated cats are wired to have relationships with humans. it's like part of their genetics or something. maybe that's why is happens so often.

fullmoonbeading I love this one because the mama looks like a mix of all this person's cats! It's like she belonged already.

No-Win-2741 I live in florida. During the hurricanes in 2024, I had mama show up. One showed up just before debbie. Another showed up just before helene. And the third one showed up just before milton. So within the span of about 6 weeks, I got three litters of kittens in the house! And my house is not big, I live in a mobile home. I think ultimately it ended up being 11 or 13 kittens. It was insane. There are pics and everything on my profile. Just look for the posts about the hurricane kittens

My point in sharing that story, is that cats know where the good folks are. And they're going to come to you. Be warned. ETA: thank you, kind redditor, for the award. It was not necessary but I'm grateful.

Nervardia No win 2741? I think after that story, you're absolutely winning! At least at the cat lottery.

Pavica Malic A stray stole a steak from our barbecue, then brought us her kittens a day later. She disappeared before we could have her spayed and then returned pregnant. The whole house (renters and resident landlord) cared for those kittens, and split the vet bills.

IllusoryLickins The Final Pam is an AMAZING name. Might wanna keep her from seeing the Fallout show though, might destroy your TV
